About Us

We owe our good friends at Oh Kay Farms for getting us started into the purebred Simmental business. In the winter of 1991 we were at the Big Horn Simmental Sale in Red Deer, AB to see how they made out with their animals in that sale. Ron ended up buying Oh Kay Erie Lady 55Y from the Lougheeds.

Now the Simmental Association did not even know that we existed at this time, so the registration stayed under Oh Kay, and the animal even stayed at their place for a while, as we did not have anywhere to keep her either. But that was all about to change.

In the spring of 1993 we purchased our land 2 miles south of Haynes, and moved our growing herd of 4 purebred Simmentals from Oh Kay Farms to the newly formed Seven Hills Farms. We get asked quite often, how we came up with the name. Well if you have ever been around Haynes, you would know that the land is very hilly, and we had inherited the brand of 7H half moon from Linda's father, so the name "Seven Hills Farm" just kind of fit.

Today we have built the herd up to about 50 Simmental cattle, which is just the number that we want to have. Each year, we look at the calf crop, and become very critical of them. As we only want to market the best animals that we can produce, usually only 5 to 10 bulls a year are offered for sale. That is about a 65% cull rate. That should speak for the quality of animals that you can expect from Seven Hills Farm. We only deliver our best.

So if you are ever in the Haynes area, stop in, have a coffee, and see the herd that we have built and are very proud of.
